Established in 2001, the .NAME universal top-level extension is the only one intended for personal sites only. These domain names can consist of personal or fictional names, nicknames and/or other titles people are famous by. At first, just third-level registrations were allowed, so if you wanted to secure john.doe.name, you would have to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were liberalized and second-level registrations were also allowed. Already purchased third-level domains remained functional.

You will be able to alter the WHOIS contact info, to park your domain, to modify Custom DNS records, etc. You can also move over an already purchased domain to our firm if you get its EPP transfer key from the current domain service provider and we will renew it once the transfer has been finalized. There are no special restrictions on who can purchase a .NAME domain name, but in order to keep the concept behind its creation alive, the dot NAME Registry organization may check who the Registrant is and if there is no link between the owner and the actual domain, the registration may be challenged.
